Let the Drugs Help Them Out

from Earth Like Planets by Earth Like Planets

/

about

During an improvised session, my friend, artist and musician Jim Ovelmen, opened up an old 60's Time/ Life Book he got in a thrift shop and began singing what he was reading. This particular one was all about drugs and pharmaceutical research. The song focuses the medicinal uses of biochemicals from marine life. We later turned it into a full song which we performed as "After the After". This new "Earth Like Planets"version has much of the original lyrics and melodies.

lyrics

The depths of the ocean
are among the most promising frontiers
waiting to be explored

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef
house many poisonous creatures
have already shown
great promise.

Let the drugs help them out
Let the drugs do their work
Let the drugs Help them out. Help them out. Help them out.
Let the drugs help everyone.

Let the drugs help them out.
Let the drugs do their work.
Let the drugs Help them out. Help them out. Help them out.
Let the drugs help everyone.
Toxins from toad fish
have been used
to assist
brain surgery
Some sponges
manufacture a
substance that destroys bacteria
And the toxin
from the crown of thorn starfish
may inhibit growth of tumors

Let the drugs help them out
Let the drugs do their work
Let the drugs Help them out. Help them out. Help them out.
Let the drugs help everyone.
